About the photos and photographer
Patrick A Fenlon All the skyscape photos displayed in the gallery on this website have been shot since May 2005 from the patio outside my front door, which is in Naenae, on the Hutt Valley's Eastern Hills, to the north of Wellington, New Zealand. The sun sets over the Old Monument Cemetery to the west of me in winter, over the Hutt Valley's Eastern Hills to the southwest of me in summer, and over the Hutt Valley's Western Hills the rest of the year.
The sunset colours fall roughly into 4 categories:
golden, silver, red and champagne. They were taken with a Fujifilm FinePix S5600 digital camera on "Auto", using no filters. The images are straight from the camera, unretouched and are not "tricked" in any way. When I lived in Europe and the Middle East I also saw sunsets, but never on the scale of here for number and beauty. There are at least 40 really good sunsets a year, and there is no air pollution to account for them. And no, they are not photos of oil fires or bush fires — only gloriously coloured sunsets! They are an enormous pleasure to me, and I hope they are to you. About the skyscape on our Home pageThe image on our Home page is one selected randomly from the Gallery. On a reload or refresh of the page another image will be chosen and displayed. To see them all with larger versions, click on "Gallery". |
